Inspecting and validating declarative Konnect gateway configuration

Downloaded the CLI release, inspected the AI Gateway authentication and MCP server schemas, reviewed plan and apply help, and successfully loaded the completed configuration. It provided authoritative validation, although the binary had to be downloaded repeatedly into temporary directories.

What worked
The explain output exposed the current resource schema in machine-readable form, and the schema loader accepted the final configuration consistently.
What got in the way
Schema output needed additional filtering and JSON inspection to isolate relevant variants, and the record shows repeated ad hoc downloads rather than a simple preinstalled workflow.

Validating declarative AI Gateway resources

Downloaded kongctl temporarily and used its version, explain, scaffold, lint help, and plan interfaces to inspect the live 1.13 resource schema and correct the manifest. Once the proper release archive name was found, schema inspection was consistent and exposed important terminology and secret-tag requirements.

What worked
The explain and scaffold commands supplied authoritative schemas for MCP servers, identity providers, policies, listeners, claims, and write-only credentials. They made it possible to validate configuration without installing the CLI permanently.
What got in the way
The first guessed release filename returned a 404, documentation terminology did not fully match version 1.13, and authenticated planning could not proceed without a real account token.
