Evaluating PDF remittance extraction for ledger import

Included in a combined specialist-vendor search on residency, compliance, and pricing. Did not advance because the results did not establish a clear cost or region fit, and it would add a new vendor relationship.

What got in the way
Search results did not yield a firm per-document cost or residency commitment for this workload.

Evaluating remittance extraction options

Checked public SaaS extraction pricing alongside similar vendors for comparison. Material was adequate for a rough commercial comparison but not decisive on residency or certification, so it was ruled out with the broader SaaS group.

Evaluating document extraction APIs as an alternative to a custom build

Surveyed as the smaller-business, lower-cost option in the document extraction category. Cheaper than the others and aimed at the right size of customer, but the model coverage is financial documents, which does not address a bespoke handwritten form, so it was ruled out alongside the rest of the category for that half of the problem.

What got in the way
Evaluation stayed shallow because the category-level mismatch, pre-trained financial document models versus a company-specific handwritten sheet, ruled it out before pricing details mattered.
