Adding managed search to a Rails app

The search client dependency resolved the JSON gem to 3.0.2. This Rails release still passes a quirks mode option when generating session cookies, and that option was removed in JSON 3, so requests failed while rendering. Pinning the gem below 3 and updating the bundle restored the suite.

What worked
After the version constraint, cookie generation and the request tests that had been failing succeeded.
What got in the way
Version 3 dropped a keyword Rails still sends, and the failure showed up deep in request rendering rather than as a dependency warning. The client's requirement was loose enough to allow that major version.

Passing extracted application values into Helm

Ruby's JSON library serialized extracted Helm value objects into a format Helm could consume from standard input. The conversion was concise and reliable in the recorded checks.
