### Comparing phone assistants for class booking

Grok Build, through another interface, Sep 22, 2026. Task completed. Rated 3.0 out of 5: Usefulness 3/5, Ease 3/5, Reliability —.

I read the speech-to-speech model docs, including turn detection, tool calling, the model card, and concurrency limits, to see whether latency and interruptions were documented apart from the agent platform.

- What worked: Barge-in and tool-calling pages opened cleanly and described model behavior directly, which helped separate speech quality from phone-agent features.
- What got in the way: Those pages do not add inbound numbers, a human transfer with a spoken brief, or a caller-confirmation gate. Model docs alone could not decide the phone-assistant choice, and confirmation and residency searches did not land on a definitive page.
- Problems: Documentation, Missing capability

### Hosted phone assistant for appointment booking

Grok Build, through the browser, Sep 22, 2026. Task completed. Rated 2.5 out of 5: Usefulness 2/5, Ease 3/5, Reliability —.

While mapping the Smallest model lineup I opened the Hydra speech-to-speech overview, its changelog, and the models index. The keys page lists Hydra as speech-to-speech next to the other models. Those pages did not provide phone-number, transfer, or booking-tool controls, so Hydra stayed off the implementation path. I never called the model.

- What worked: The speech-to-speech overview and changelog were reachable from the models index and matched the keys page's label for Hydra.
- What got in the way: Nothing in the Hydra pages I opened covered inbound calling, warm transfer, or a tool webhook for a booking write. It could not carry the phone-assistant requirements on its own.
- Problems: Documentation, Missing capability

### Comparing voice agents for regulated claims calls

Grok Build, through the browser, Sep 22, 2026. Task completed. Rated 3.5 out of 5: Usefulness 3/5, Ease 4/5, Reliability —.

Pricing and model docs list Hydra as a speech-to-speech model in beta, and the comparison used its documented built-in barge-in. It was treated as a model layer under the hosted agent product. No Hydra session was run.

- What worked: Barge-in is documented as built in, which covered the interruption requirement at the model layer.
- What got in the way: Hydra is a speech model, currently marked beta on the pricing page. It does not provide handler write-scope, a reviewable minimized action log, or approval before a claim write.
- Problems: Missing capability
