A dedicated hot-shots client provided buffered, client-side aggregated DogStatsD counters that remained active when tracing was disabled and kept analytics off the checkout critical path.

- What worked: Installation, type inspection, configuration, compilation, tests, and a live local UDP probe all succeeded. It cleanly separated metrics enablement from tracing enablement.
