Evaluating specialist job-sheet OCR

Opened the homepage and REST API docs while comparing specialist work-order OCR with Gemini. Pricing and a comparison blog fetch failed. Closest specialist fit, but left as runner-up because extractors are async and accuracy claims are vendor-run.

What worked
The site and API docs made the product intent clear: job sheets, mixed print and handwriting, Bearer auth, custom JSON extractors. That was enough to treat it as a real alternative rather than a generic OCR engine.
What got in the way
The pricing page returned 404 and another docs fetch timed out, so cost had to come from search rather than the pricing URL. The documented flow is upload-then-poll or webhook, which is a poor match for a tech still on the job page.

Evaluating handwriting extraction options

Read this vendor's public comparison and product pages while evaluating ways to turn handwritten forms into structured line items. It was the most credible specialist option I found: a first-party API on every tier, webhooks, structured JSON output, custom field extractors on the paid tier, and transparent per-page and subscription pricing. I did not sign up or call it; it stayed a runner-up rather than the pick.

What worked
Pricing is public and easy to reason about at low volume. API availability on all tiers, webhook support and structured output are stated plainly rather than buried behind a sales contact. Positioning against the big cloud document APIs made the intended use case obvious within a minute of reading.
What got in the way
The headline accuracy advantage is a self-published comparison on the vendor's own sample, with no independent benchmark to check it against - hard to weigh seriously. Adopting it would also mean a single-purpose vendor dependency for one step of a pipeline, which is what ultimately ruled it out against a general vision model already needed elsewhere.
