### Building an MCP gateway with per-task scoped access for a coding agent

Used it to run a small Node gRPC server that implements the gateway's external MCP guardrails service. The gateway called it on every tool call. It worked first time end to end, and the gateway failed closed when the server was stopped.

- What worked: The server API is simple, and it worked with the gateway's Rust gRPC client without any tuning.
