Tried the keyword search feed as a discovery channel. It responded immediately and would clearly have given the best regional coverage of anything I tested, but the applicable terms limit the feed to personal, non-commercial feed-reader use and this pipeline supports a revenue-generating publication, so I excluded it and left a note in the source explaining why.
- What worked
- Trivially accessible: a URL with a query, standard feed XML back, no key. Coverage of small outlets looked strong on the one call I made.
- What got in the way
- The usage terms are the blocker and they are not surfaced anywhere near the feed itself — you have to go looking. For any commercial use there is no documented licensed path, so an otherwise ideal source is simply unavailable.
