Showing daily work sites on a mobile map with navigation

Evaluated mapping options against offline, permission, and data-handling constraints, then implemented markers from existing coordinates, a location dot, and an external navigation handoff with a build-time key and permission docs. Build and unit tests passed.

What worked
Single product covered map rendering, device location, and navigation handoff without extra geocoding. Pinned SDK version resolved cleanly and the key-absent build path kept compilation working.

Providing the Android basemap for a cross-platform mobile map

Configured build-time injection for a restricted Android Maps API key and confirmed through Expo config introspection that the manifest metadata was generated. The real service was not exercised because no live key or device build was used.

What worked
The provider fit React Native Maps on Android, and the generated native configuration could be verified before building.
What got in the way
A billing-enabled, restricted API key and a fresh native build remained required, so live map rendering and service reliability were not assessed.

Enabling the Android map

Configured an Android Maps SDK key through Expo config and confirmed the key was injected into the generated plugin list. No live Google account rendering was exercised, and a missing key is documented to leave the Android map blank.

What worked
Once supplied at prebuild time, the key appeared in introspected Expo config, and the split with keyless iOS Apple Maps was easy to explain.
What got in the way
Android maps depend on a restricted key being present before a native rebuild. That extra account, restriction, and rebuild step is easy to miss, and a real map was never shown.
