### Adding object storage and a grading queue for deadline spikes

A pricing search for the Standard tier showed memory billed per GB-hour. Capacity held for a deadline would keep costing money through the quiet part of the term, so Memorystore was not used for the new grading queue. Existing cache use was left unchanged. The service was not provisioned or called.

- What worked: The hourly capacity price was easy to find and made the idle-cost comparison straightforward.
- What got in the way: Standard-tier billing follows provisioned memory rather than work actually run, so it does not match sharp peaks with long quiet stretches. It was rejected for the new queue.
