Searching live port and carrier news

Chose the GNews search API after reading the pricing page and the search-endpoint docs, then implemented one GET per live port and per live carrier. Queries use title and description, a publication watermark, and the article id as the story id. Query helpers were checked for phrase shape and the 200-character cap. No live request was sent.

What worked
Docs stated the search URL, the 200-character query cap, title and description search, publication sorting, and response fields for id, publisher name, and publication time. The free plan's non-commercial limit and 12-hour delay were clear enough to require the Essential plan at EUR 49.99 per month. Signup is an email account and one API key.
What got in the way
Parameter details were split across the pricing page and a second docs fetch. Result quality, quota errors, and indexing delay were not observed because the client never called the service.

Selecting and integrating a news search API

I read the search endpoint and pricing pages, then implemented an HTTP client for hourly searches of each live port and carrier. The Business plan's 5,000 requests a day covered about 2,760 hourly searches with retry headroom, and the docs named the key parameter, article id, source, and publication time. No live request was sent.

What worked
The pricing page and search docs were specific enough to pick a plan and shape the client: daily cap, articles per request, requests per second, a hard stop with HTTP 403 and no overage, a trial before the card is billed, and the article fields needed to store each story once.
What got in the way
Publication timestamps were ambiguous enough that the client had to allow a missing trailing Z. Quota, article quality, and the 403-at-cap behavior were taken from the docs and never observed.

Scheduled disruption news ingest

Chose this licensed news search API as the discovery source, then implemented a scheduled HTTP client that batches entity queries, maps headline, source, time, and URL into stored stories, and keeps the dashboard off the live API path. Never called a live key.

What worked
Pricing page loaded and the response shape matched the shipment-page fields. Keyword search fit a small watched-entity list better than a global firehose. Query-length limits were discoverable enough to batch searches.
What got in the way
The versioned docs URL returned 404, so query limits and operators had to be inferred from search and the pricing page. A 200-character query cap forces many requests per cycle. Setup still depends on a real API key in secrets after deploy.
