Queried the public LEI record endpoint directly to confirm field names, then wrote a connector against it to cover entities outside the home country, where no national identifier was available. The response carried legal name, status, jurisdiction, registration-authority identifier, country and legal form — enough to build deterministic findings with no model in the loop.
- What worked
- No account or key needed, so I could verify the real response shape in one call instead of guessing. The filter syntax is conventional and worked first try. The record set is rich enough to disambiguate same-name companies by country, which was the actual requirement.
- What got in the way
- Only exercised with a couple of live queries, so I cannot speak to behaviour under load or to matching quality on messier company names.
