### Managing translation catalogs

Used for message extraction, catalog compilation, and a release gate that fails on missing, empty, or fuzzy entries. Required a small pure-Python compiler and parser workaround, after which the gate passed and caught real drift.

- What worked: Standard catalog workflow scaled to multiple languages with compiled output and a gate that detected real mismatches.
- What got in the way: A custom catalog parser initially mishandled obsolete entries and a punctuation mismatch between source and catalog tripped the gate until the catalog was regenerated.
