Turning street addresses into map positions

Wrote a server-side Geocoding API client for street-only addresses, appending a city and country and biasing with a UK region, a country component, and a local bounds box. Resolved and unresolved results are cached on the address text. Tests used a stubbed HTTP client. The live API was never called.

What worked
Region, component, and bounds parameters made a local bias expressible. partial_match and location type made it possible to drop partial matches, town-centre approximations, and points outside the area, and to remember those failures so they are not requested again.
What got in the way
How partial UK street addresses actually resolve had to be looked up, and result quality was never checked against the live service, only against stubbed responses.

Converting Estonian street addresses into map coordinates

Implemented server-side address geocoding, precision checks, cached coordinates, refresh handling, and bulk backfill. Official coverage and policy documentation supported the design, though live accuracy and service behavior were not tested without a key.

What worked
The response model provided the place identifier, coordinates, partial-match signal, and location precision needed to reject unsafe town-level results.
What got in the way
Real address results, quota behavior, and credential restrictions remained unverified because the service was not called live.

Geocoding street and town addresses

Implemented server-side geocoding of street plus town with country bias, a 30-day success cache, a one-day retry on misses, and graceful failure when the server key is missing. Storage terms drove the cache design. The API was never called with a real key, so match quality and uptime were not observed.

What worked
Docs made the country component, separate server key, and cache window clear enough to design around. Missing-key and error paths were specified so the rest of the app would keep working.
What got in the way
Coordinates cannot be stored indefinitely under the documented cache limit, so the design refreshes on a timer instead of treating geocodes as permanent. No live responses were seen.

Street-address geocoding with locality bias

Implemented a server HTTP client for this API so street-only UK addresses could be turned into coordinates, with country and locality restrictions, a city viewport, and a region parameter. Cached results in the app database. Tests asserted request shape only; no live geocode calls were made.

What worked
Public docs made component restrictions, bounds, and region filtering clear enough to encode a biased query without an official .NET SDK. Built-in HTTP JSON helpers were enough to call the REST endpoint.
What got in the way
There was no live key, so accuracy on incomplete street names and live status codes were not observed. Setup requires a separate server key and enabling this API on a cloud project, which stayed on paper.
