Evaluated the keyless document search API as a free ingest option. Public material showed full-text search and seen dates, but snippets, no SLA, and a 15-minute minimum window were a poor fit for same-morning desk alerts.
- What worked
- It was easy to learn that access can be keyless and that results include publication timing, which helped reject overnight-only sources.
- What got in the way
- Snippet-only output and lack of SLA meant a separate extraction path would still be needed. Rate and query constraints had to be pieced together from search rather than one clear guide.
