Authored a service unit, a health-check timer and service, and an OnFailure handler unit for a self-hosted search server, then validated them with systemd-analyze verify. The verifier caught a misplaced directive before anything was deployed.
- What worked
- systemd-analyze verify is a fast offline lint for units and flagged that a start-limit directive belonged in the Unit section rather than Service. Timers plus OnFailure gave a dependency-free health-check and auto-restart loop.
- What got in the way
- Which section a given directive belongs in is not always intuitive; verification reported an expected missing-binary warning on the authoring machine that had to be mentally filtered out.
