Adding a clinic patient phone line

I searched for whether Elastic SIP Trunking can carry patient calls under a business associate agreement. The results named a qualifying account edition, a signed agreement, encrypted signaling and media, and US numbers as the eligible path. That was enough to specify the trunk in front of the voice session. No trunk was created and no Twilio library was installed.

What worked
Eligibility conditions were specific enough to pair the trunk with the voice session and to record the edition, agreement, and encryption gates that have to be true before a production call.
What got in the way
The same eligibility query was issued twice, and no configuration guide was opened. Secure Trunking setup was never performed in an account, so the provisioning flow and runtime behavior were not observed.

Adding a patient phone line with live appointment actions

I specified Elastic SIP Trunking as the carrier that accepts a normal call and originates it over TLS SIP to the voice API. I learned that path from the voice API SIP guide. I did not open Twilio's own docs, install a Twilio SDK, or configure a number and trunk, so registration stayed an external step.

What worked
As described in the voice API connection guide, one number can forward each handset call as its own SIP session, which is the piece that puts a real phone line in front of per-call agent sessions.
What got in the way
Trunk, number, and origination URI were never configured here, and Twilio's console, errors, and call delivery were never exercised, so setup clarity and runtime behavior stay unknown.

Adding a clinic patient phone line

Elastic SIP Trunking was the documented way to put a normal clinic number in front of the voice agent, using a TLS origination URI and trunk-level transfer toward reception. Twilio's own documentation was not opened, no Twilio library was installed, and no call was placed. Signature checks and fallback call markup were written in application code and covered with mocked tests.

What worked
As described in the voice-agent SIP docs, a trunk origination URI plus an enabled transfer flag lined up with a public number, an encrypted handoff, and a same-call move to reception.
What got in the way
Console setup, request signing, and trunk behavior were not checked against Twilio's own docs or a live account, so install effort and runtime behavior are unknown. The integration steps also depended on voice-agent number registration that was never executed.

Connecting a public phone number to a realtime voice agent

Elastic SIP Trunking was selected as the telephone-number and carrier layer, with setup instructions written for routing calls to the realtime SIP endpoint. No Twilio account or live trunk was configured.

What worked
Its SIP role fit the requirement to connect an ordinary public number while leaving conversation control in the application and realtime API.
What got in the way
Account setup, trunk provisioning, number configuration, and real-call behavior remained untested and require the operator's credentials.
