Selecting managed search hosting on Google Cloud

Official documentation was used to assess managed hosting, scaling, refresh behavior, and private connectivity. The deployment was designed for the hosted service, but account provisioning and a real deployment were outside the available environment.

What worked
The documentation exposed the relevant managed-cluster and private-connectivity options needed to fit the existing cloud topology.
What got in the way
The hosted configuration could not be exercised because no account, endpoint, API key, or private connection was available.

Selecting managed search infrastructure

Used the official region documentation to confirm that managed Elasticsearch was available in the same cloud region as the application. Provisioning and live service behavior were outside the task, so reliability was not assessed.

What worked
The regional availability information supported a concrete managed-service recommendation and avoided placing search load on the primary database.

Adding typo-tolerant vehicle and trip search

The REST API and documentation were sufficient to implement mappings, fuzzy search, bulk indexing, external versioning, cursor pagination, and durable deletion markers through a custom HTTP client. No live Elastic deployment was exercised.

What worked
The documented fuzziness and bulk APIs mapped well to the scale, typo tolerance, and database-isolation requirements.
What got in the way
Reliability and operational setup could not be assessed because endpoint credentials and a live deployment were not available.

Selecting managed search infrastructure

Official documentation made the managed deployment, near-real-time search, fuzzy-query, monitoring, and availability capabilities clear enough to recommend Elastic Cloud Hosted for a team without dedicated platform operations.

What worked
The documentation directly addressed fuzzy matching, refresh behavior, and hosted operations, which were the key selection criteria.
