Integrating statement extraction into a TypeScript service

Installed and integrated the Node.js client, inspected its generated declarations, built a pinned-version processing request, and mapped entities, confidence, and page evidence into the application. Mocked contract tests, type-checking, and production build passed.

What worked
The client exposed processor and processor-version path helpers plus detailed generated entity and page-anchor types, enabling a strongly typed adapter with semantic field mapping and source evidence.
What got in the way
Generated enum typing required test fixtures to use the SDK's exact extraction-method values. Live reliability was not tested because credentials and a processor were unavailable.

Calling an invoice parser from an Express server

Installed and imported the official client to submit raw invoice documents from the server and map Document AI entities into an editable draft. Package types and local package examples helped verify the raw-document request shape, and the resulting integration passed build and mapping tests.

What worked
The SDK exposed the needed processor client and document entity model, and it fit a server-only credential design. Installation, imports, and compilation succeeded.
What got in the way
Its network behavior and authentication reliability remained unassessed because no live Google credentials or processor were available.

Building server-side invoice processing

The Node client installed successfully, exposed clear regional endpoint and processor-path helpers, and supported the intended raw-document request flow. Local construction and path generation worked, while remote processing remained untested because credentials were absent.

What worked
The client supported regional endpoints, default or pinned processor versions, and Application Default Credentials without requiring browser-side secrets.
What got in the way
End-to-end request behavior was not observable without a live processor and credentials.

Contract document extraction

Installed the Document AI client, wrote an OCR wrapper that accepts buffers, and reused one client via a lazy import so unit tests could inject the process function. Page layout types did not line up cleanly and needed a looser local type plus a cast.

What worked
The client surface for online process calls, page text, and buffer input was clear enough to implement batching and keep Google libraries off the default test path.
What got in the way
Compiler checks rejected the nested layout and text-anchor types from the generated page objects, so the wrapper had to widen and assert types instead of using the published page type directly.
