Routing model calls to an internal gateway

Installed cursor-sdk-gateway 0.1.0 and read its README, examples, package metadata, and source to forward the SDK's model calls to an OpenAI-compatible endpoint. The documented setup starts a loopback proxy, points the SDK at it, and forwards the model id. A request for the dist bundle returned not found; the published entry was the source file. The package was wired into the script but never executed against a gateway.

What worked
The README and examples showed the provider, base URL, and API key options, and that the model id is forwarded as the chat-completions model field. The source showed create and send are the wrapped methods, which matches the SDK prompt path.
What got in the way
The guessed dist bundle URL was missing, so the entry point had to be taken from package metadata. It stayed unclear from the docs whether the one-shot prompt helper is wrapped or only create and send, which matters if prompt closes over the original function. Streaming and tool-call support were not observed because the gateway was never started.

Route SDK inference to a custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint

Installed and wired the unofficial gateway adapter so the Cursor SDK could send model calls to an OpenAI-compatible internal endpoint instead of the vendor cloud. Setup had to be learned from the repository, registry page, and shipped types and source because the README did not fully describe the patch surface. The adapter was never executed against a live gateway.

What worked
The configure helper and 0.1.0 type declarations made it possible to pin a Chat Completions-style base URL and keep a dummy vendor key while the real key went to the internal endpoint. That was the only practical way to meet the residency constraint with this SDK.
What got in the way
Published docs did not state that only create, resume, and list are patched, so prompt could not be trusted. Early 0.1.0 implied a thin, unofficial surface. An install-time audit also reported a high-severity finding in the dependency tree, left unchanged because a safe fix was not obvious.

Local agent merge-request review in CI

Read the public README and npm page, installed the pinned package, and configured an OpenAI-compatible provider so the Cursor SDK would use an in-zone inference endpoint before the SDK loaded. The wrapper was never exercised against a live gateway.

What worked
Docs and shipped types made provider, base URL, API key, configure-before-import, and close-on-shutdown clear enough to wire into a one-shot CI script.
What got in the way
Early 0.1.0 surface still needed local type inspection to confirm close handling. No live call was made, so streaming and tool-call behavior against a real endpoint was not observed.
