Added response compression at application bootstrap because the new endpoint returns verbose coordinate arrays to users on another continent from the deployment region. Measured the generated payload and saw roughly a seventy percent size reduction, which justified including it.
- What worked
- One dependency and one line at bootstrap, no configuration needed for the default case. The benefit was large and easy to quantify for this payload shape.
- What got in the way
- Types come from a separate declaration package rather than shipping with it, so it is two installs instead of one. Only verified by measuring payload compressibility, not by observing real response headers from a running server.
