Wiring app errors logs traces metrics and alerts

Used as the single observability backend for structured logs, request metrics, error filters, dashboards and latency and error alarms. Implementation and template checks completed without live AWS credentials.

What worked
Covered logs, metrics, alarms and dashboards within existing AWS constraints without adding a new vendor or agent.
What got in the way
Alert delivery was validated only through template inspection and local drills, not a live alarm transition and notification receipt.

Designing golden-signal dashboards and alarms for an ECS/RDS service

Designed a dashboard and roughly ten metric alarms covering latency, error rate, traffic, and ALB/ECS/RDS saturation, plus an SNS topic for paging, drawing on known ALB/ECS/RDS metric names and alarm semantics without ever applying the config against a live account.

What got in the way
Could not exercise real CloudWatch behavior such as live metric data, alarm evaluation, or actual paging, since no AWS credentials were available and the paging destination was still unconfirmed, leaving the design unverified against a running account.

Designing golden-signal dashboards and alarms

Designed a CloudWatch dashboard and seven metric alarms covering ALB/ECS/RDS golden signals, authored entirely as Terraform resources without a live AWS account to apply against.

What worked
Metric namespaces and alarm dimensions for ALB, ECS, and RDS were straightforward to express as resources, and the config validated cleanly against the provider's resource schema.
What got in the way
Could not verify against a real account that metric names, dimensions, or alarm thresholds actually behave as expected since no apply or live credentials were available.
