### Including Kafka custom resources in the base overlay

Listed the new Kafka cluster and topic manifests in the base kustomization. Checked whether shared labels would overwrite operator-required cluster labels; they were left as-is after that check. Kustomize was not executed.

- What worked: Adding resources to the existing base list was a small, obvious change.
- What got in the way: It was not obvious from the overlay alone whether common labels would break operator label selectors on Kafka custom resources.
