Comparing REST agents to webhook automations

Fetched cloud-agent, API, capabilities, security, and pricing pages to see whether REST /v1/agents should be called from the .NET service. It is reachable from C# and would support unattended runs, but the same prompt, tools, and fire-and-forget behavior would be rebuilt inside the app. Used docs only; no API calls.

What worked
Public docs distinguished cloud agents from the editor SDK and confirmed paid-plan and token billing. Enough to decide Automations already packaged the needed trigger model.
What got in the way
Would have duplicated prompt, tools, and dispatch that Automations already provides. Search and computer-use behavior still had to be inferred from overlapping agent pages rather than one API reference.

Choosing a runtime for a PHP app

Read first-party guidance that the REST surface exists for languages without an SDK. It was enough to reject as the main stack, because streaming, resume, and conversation handling would have to be rebuilt.

What worked
Docs were explicit that REST is thinner than the TypeScript and Python packages and that PHP has no native SDK.
What got in the way
The documented surface would have reintroduced the plumbing the task asked to avoid, so it was not used.

Adding a provider-agnostic assistant to a Laravel app

Implemented a Laravel HTTP client from the Cloud Agents REST docs: create agent, create run, get agent or run, list models, and MCP servers. PHP over HTTP is a documented path. The live API was never called; requests were faked locally, so hosted reliability was not observed.

What worked
The documented surface covered no-repo agents, follow-up runs, MCP server passing, and model as configuration. That was enough to wire config, a client, ticket persistence, and poll-to-note delivery without a Node or Python sidecar.
What got in the way
Needed repeated searches and schema re-reads to confirm create, run, follow-up, and result text fields. Public MCP URL, tokens, and extra-server JSON had to be invented as app config because cloud agents must reach those servers.
