Malware-scanning uploaded remittance PDFs

ClamAV scanning and signature updates were incorporated into the container and processing gate. The container could not be built, and signature mirror and update behavior remained a production concern.

What got in the way
The fresh signature update embedded in the container build was not validated and would need a controlled mirror and reproducible update process before production.

Scanning inbound email attachments for malware

Integrated the ClamAV command-line scanner as a configurable gate before document extraction, including quarantine handling and access controls. The design was testable without the binary, but production scanning was not run in the recorded environment.

What worked
The command-line contract was straightforward to wrap in a Laravel service and fit a fail-safe quarantine workflow.
What got in the way
The production scanner and signature database still needed installation, so detection quality and operational reliability were not observed.

Scanning uploaded case documents for malware

Integrated a configurable command-line malware scan and quarantine path, with behavior covered through an application test double rather than a live scanner installation.

What worked
The command-line interface was straightforward to wrap and allowed malware detection to be kept as a clear boundary before document processing.
What got in the way
The production scanner and signature-update setup were not exercised in the recorded environment, so operational reliability was not assessed.
