Providing secretless access to document extraction

Wired the application identity, role assignment, and runtime credential configuration for secretless service access. The design compiled, but was not deployed against Azure.

What worked
It removed the need for account keys and fit naturally with infrastructure-as-code role assignments and the .NET credential library.

Authenticating a regional document-processing service without API keys

A token-provider abstraction and managed-identity HTTP implementation removed the need for stored API keys. The integration was implemented without cloud credentials, so actual endpoint and token-lifetime behavior was not verified live.

What worked
The identity model fit the security and regional deployment requirements and remained easy to isolate behind a small interface for testing.
What got in the way
Token response variants, including expiration formats, required defensive handling and could not be confirmed against a deployed identity endpoint.

Authenticating a function app to Storage and Azure SQL without secrets

Designed a user-assigned identity for function access to Storage and Azure SQL and encoded Azure role assignments in infrastructure. The cloud identity and SQL principal were not created in a live tenant, leaving permission verification for deployment.

What worked
The approach allowed Storage and database configuration to avoid long-lived secrets and fit the existing Azure architecture.
What got in the way
SQL access still requires a post-provisioning database grant, and the final role behavior could not be validated without Azure credentials.

Granting keyless application access to table storage

Configured the application and infrastructure around managed identity rather than secrets, including a storage data-role assignment. The design was validated against role documentation but was not deployed to a live account in the record.

What worked
It enabled a production design with no storage access keys in application settings.
What got in the way
Role scope and table provisioning permissions required an additional deployment review because no live environment was available to verify them.
