Evaluated for VAT calculation support and rejected. An external tax processor would expand compliance scope and egress dependence for a VAT model already expressible from customer rate attributes, with no advantage for the correction workflow.

Avalara was considered through Metronome's tax and invoicing integration material as the VAT component. It appeared capable of filling the tax gap, but account provisioning, legal identity setup, rates, and invoice validation remained deployment prerequisites.
