Evaluating AI SRE alternatives

Read Autopilot guidance while looking for something that could turn an alert into a mergeable fix. It is aimed at pull-request follow-through rather than starting from production logs and the current monitors, so it was not used in the integration.

What worked
The docs made the pull-request and merge-readiness focus clear, which helped rule it in or out quickly against the alert-to-fix requirement.
What got in the way
It does not itself investigate API and worker failures from existing cloud logs and alerts, so it could not be the primary SRE overlay without another product in front.

Evaluate unattended pull-request maintenance

Read the Autopilot skill while searching for something that diagnoses store alerts and ships fixes without an operator. It covers keeping pull requests merge-ready, which does not investigate production checkout failures or error alerts.

What worked
The skill was short and specific about CI and conflict handling, so it was quick to rule out as the incident tool.
What got in the way
No path from production alerts to a diagnosis or fix; merge-ready PR maintenance is a different job than self-healing checkout errors.

Evaluating PR automation as incident remediation

Read Autopilot guidance while searching for a product that investigates production incidents and proposes fixes. The documented loop is pull-request hygiene and merge readiness, which does not watch service monitors or enforce an error budget, so it was not used as the SRE integrator.

What worked
The skill made the PR-centric scope obvious, which avoided treating merge automation as a substitute for incident investigation.
What got in the way
There is no documented path from production traces, logs, or burn-rate alerts into an Autopilot run, and no audit model linking investigation evidence to a change and a result.
