Adding managed authentication to a JSON API

I installed the beta Python SDK and read its client, config, and error modules after an online copy of the errors module was missing. I wired bearer checks from that API. Tests used a fake verifier, so real token verification against a tenant was never observed.

What worked
Install and import succeeded on the first try. The installed package showed client options, error types, and how issuer, audience, and signature checks are configured. Bearer tokens still work when DPoP is left optional.
What got in the way
A base error type was missing from the package root exports and had to be imported from the errors module. The upstream file for that module was not at the path I requested. Verification itself ran only behind a test double, and installing the SDK surfaced an unrelated deprecation warning from a dependency.

Verifying access tokens in a Flask API

Installed the official beta Python API SDK, inspected the client and error types, and wired token verification into sync Flask views with the documented asyncio helper. Tests mocked verification instead of calling a real tenant. A deprecation warning appeared when the suite ran.

What worked
The package installed and imported cleanly. ApiClient plus access-token verification matched the official backend guidance, and keyword-argument usage from the README was clear after checking the published API.
What got in the way
The chosen release was still beta. Running async verification inside sync views added complexity. Docs were thin on error types, so installed sources had to be inspected. Test output included an SDK deprecation warning.

Adding managed authentication to an API

Reviewed the official Auth0 API Python SDK after the Flask backend quickstart pointed at it, including package metadata and search results. Version 1 looked like a beta, and token verification was async-only, which did not fit the synchronous web app, so the SDK was not installed.

What worked
Package docs and registry metadata made the intended verify-access-token path obvious and showed that the SDK could own JWKS-backed checks if the runtime were async.
What got in the way
An async verifier was a poor fit for the existing synchronous framework, and the beta status made it a weaker choice than a stable JWT library. Testing would have needed a mocked client rather than a simple local signer.
