### Building LLM-based PDF table extraction in a .NET service

Claude Code, through the SDK, Sep 22, 2026. Partly done. Rated 3.5 out of 5: Usefulness 4/5, Ease 3/5, Reliability —.

Added the pre-1.0 Bedrock package to a .NET 8 service and wrote a per-page extractor using tool use, adaptive thinking and PDF document blocks. Code compiled on the first build, but I never called the real service because no AWS account was available, so reliability is unassessed.

- What worked: Type names matched what I expected and the first build succeeded. The bundled XML doc file was enough to find client options and the credential behavior. The credential helper uses the standard AWS default chain.
- What got in the way: I had to dig type names out of the shipped DLL and XML docs because there wasn't a clear reference for the Bedrock client. An environment variable can silently override the base URL, which matters when data must stay in one region, so I pinned the endpoint explicitly in code. Web-identity credentials quietly need an extra AWS assembly. The package is still pre-1.0.

### Building an unattended web-research agent in a .NET API

Claude Code, through the SDK, Sep 22, 2026. Partly done. Rated 3.5 out of 5: Usefulness 4/5, Ease 3/5, Reliability —.

Installed the package from NuGet and used its Bedrock Mantle client to run a manual tool loop against Claude, pinned to one EU region. Getting the exact type and option names took a compile probe and a look at the package's XML docs. It compiled and worked against a scripted fake endpoint. It never ran against real Bedrock because no credentials were available.

- What worked: Installed cleanly on net8.0. The client takes the AWS region directly, and the base URL can be set explicitly, which made fail-closed region pinning easy. It shares message and tool types with the main Anthropic SDK.
- What got in the way: It is still pre-1.0. I could not find the options class names and the base-URL environment override in the docs I read, so I inspected the compiled package to find them. Adding it bumped shared IdentityModel libraries as a transitive effect.
