### Running independently checkpointed stream consumers

Installed and inspected the Python multi-language client, then built separate consumer applications with enhanced fan-out identities and checkpoint-aware processing. Local imports and tests worked, though understanding the Python-to-Java launcher, properties, callbacks, and checkpoint semantics required substantial package inspection.

- What worked: The library supplied the lease, shard assignment, enhanced fan-out, and checkpoint model needed to add consumers independently.
- What got in the way: A direct system-wide install was blocked by the managed Python environment, so installation and inspection had to move into a virtual environment. The live KCL worker was not run against AWS.
