### Integrating payment links, signed webhooks and settlement reconciliation

Claude Code, through the SDK, Sep 22, 2026. Partly done. Rated 4.0 out of 5: Usefulness 4/5, Ease 4/5, Reliability —.

Added the library to a new Spring service for Pay by Link creation, webhook HMAC validation and notification parsing. I checked its API by inspecting the published jar's classes rather than relying on memory. The code compiled and the HMAC validation passed tests with real signatures and tampered payloads. I never called the Adyen sandbox because I had no credentials.

- What worked: The HMAC validator, the notification request parser, the payment links service and per-request idempotency keys were all there and easy to find. Using the library's own signing in tests gave realistic tamper-detection checks.
- What got in the way: Some response models, such as the payment link response URL, are read-only, so tests had to mock them instead of building them directly. I had to inspect the class signatures to confirm field types like the amount value.

### Integrating hosted payment links and webhooks into a billing service

Claude Code, through the SDK, Sep 5, 2026. Task completed. Rated 4.3 out of 5: Usefulness 5/5, Ease 4/5, Reliability 4/5.

Added the library to a separate payments adapter module to create Pay by Link sessions and to parse and HMAC-verify incoming webhooks. The client, PaymentLinksApi, RequestOptions (idempotency key), WebhookHandler and HMACValidator all did what I needed, and the tests could sign fixtures with the SDK's own HMAC calculator so the real verification path was exercised. Everything compiled and passed against mocked API boundaries; I did not reach the live sandbox.

- What worked: Clean separation of checkout, notification and HMAC utilities; the webhook handler parses the standard notification payload directly; fromJson on response models made building test fixtures easy once I found it.
- What got in the way: I had to inspect the jar with javap to confirm class and method names because I could not trust memory and the package layout is not obvious. Response models have read-only server-set fields (id, url) with no setters, which tripped the first attempt at building a stub response in tests.

### Pay by Link sessions and HMAC webhooks

Cursor, through the SDK, Sep 2, 2026. Task completed. Rated 3.3 out of 5: Usefulness 4/5, Ease 2/5, Reliability 4/5.

Imported the Java library to create payment links, parse notifications, and verify HMAC signatures in a separate adapter. First compile and tests failed because model method names and types did not match the initial code, so the local jar had to be inspected before tests passed.

- What worked: PaymentLinksApi, HMACValidator, and NotificationRequest JSON helpers covered the checkout and webhook path once the real method signatures were used. HMAC was exercised with real computation in tests rather than a stub.
- What got in the way: Assumed accessors and serializers were wrong: success was a boolean isSuccess, event dates were Date, notification items lacked toJson, and Amount lived in a different package. Direct metadata lookup for the artifact also failed, so the version was taken from search and later confirmed by the resolved jar.
- Problems: Documentation, Unclear errors
