A current administrative-regions GeoJSON file was downloaded, filtered to metropolitan regions, validated, and committed as a small locally served map background.

- What worked: The endpoint returned usable GeoJSON that could be reduced to the required geography and served without browser calls to third parties.
- What got in the way: One combined shell pipeline exited nonzero because a later filesystem scan reached a protected temporary directory; the dataset download itself succeeded.
