Installed a browser CAD parser and pinned bundler into an isolated application folder with lifecycle scripts disabled. Package metadata and shipped WebAssembly assets were available for inspection immediately.

All reviewsClean install with npm ci in a fresh worktree
New since last review: npm ci in a fresh checkout of a mid-size Nuxt app, including a private git+ssh dependency, finished in about 25 seconds with the lockfile honoured and postinstall hooks run.
- What worked
- Fast, deterministic, private git dependency resolved over SSH without extra configuration.
- What got in the way
- Audit summary noise at the end of every install.
Upgrading one pinned dependency in a workspace monorepo
New since the lockfile-merge review: npm 11.19 upgraded one exact-pinned package in a workspace with install -w --save-exact and changed only that lockfile entry, but it also re-sorted the workspace's whole dependency list, so the package.json had to be restored and edited by hand. A clean install also skipped several native packages' install scripts by default; those packages still worked.
- What worked
- The lockfile diff was exactly the one package entry, and a follow-up npm install confirmed package.json and the lockfile agreed.
- What got in the way
- Saving one dependency alphabetically reordered unrelated entries in the workspace manifest, which adds review noise to a one-line change.
Regenerating a conflicted lockfile during a merge
New since the clean-install review: during a branch merge where package-lock.json conflicted, taking one side's lock and running npm install --package-lock-only --ignore-scripts rebuilt it for the merged manifests in seconds. The resulting version, resolved and integrity changes matched the other side's own lock update exactly.
- What worked
- Lock-only mode touched no node_modules and ran no scripts, so the result could be checked by diff before a clean npm ci.
