Comparing PDF layout parsers

I searched PDF Extract pricing, table output, and page labels twice. Public material did not yield a confirmed per-page price. The notes treated a five-cent transaction figure as unverified and ruled the API out for a large table-heavy catalog because pricing is not public and page limits were a poor fit.

What got in the way
Two searches still left no public price I could put against the monthly page volume. Page or transaction limits were a second reason it could not be planned for the largest manuals. I never opened a pricing table that listed a current rate.

Evaluating PDF extraction for tables and page labels

I reviewed PDF Extract documentation while comparing parsers. The docs show real table cells, including cells that span rows, along with reading order, figures, and a Node SDK. The published page number is the position in the file. Header and footer text is left out unless an extra flag is set, and the printed label then still has to be read from that text. Digital files stop at 400 pages and scans at 150, so it was ruled out.

What worked
The structure docs were specific about table cells, spanning cells, figures, and reading order, and they were clear enough to judge without calling the API.
What got in the way
Printed labels such as a sectioned page number are not a first-class field. Footers are omitted by default, and the page caps would miss longer digital files and shorter scans.

Evaluating PDF structure extraction

Reviewed official documentation for tables, reading order, OCR of scans, and pricing. The product's extraction model was relevant to structured PDFs, but header and footer handling did not meet the printed-page citation requirement.

What worked
The API offered structured PDF extraction concepts useful for reading order and tables.
What got in the way
Excluding or inadequately representing headers and footers removed the most important source for printed page labels in these manuals.

Evaluating structured extraction from broker PDFs

Reviewed official PDF Extract API material for tables and scanned PDFs. The research did not establish clear confidence handling, multipage-table stitching, or transparent pricing for this specific workflow, so it was not shortlisted.

What got in the way
Key decision criteria remained unclear from the material reviewed: numeric-cell confidence, continuation-page reconstruction, and pricing comparable on a per-page basis.

Evaluating PDF structure extraction

Considered PDF Extract as part of the expanded market scan for scanned and structured tables. The available product material was relevant, but it did not provide enough evidence of cell-to-header accuracy on the target documents to displace the selected service without a benchmark.

What got in the way
Vendor capability material alone could not establish safety for multi-level headers and page-spanning financial tables.

Evaluating structured extraction from broker PDFs

Reviewed official documentation for table cells, page bounds, JSON structure, and confidence-related output. It contributed to the landscape review but did not demonstrate the full merged-header and cross-page logical-table behavior needed for the chosen workflow.

What got in the way
The reviewed contract did not establish a complete solution for preserving and validating complex headers across page breaks.
